Nikon Updates SnapBridge App for iOS and Android

Nikon has released version 2.6 of its SnapBridge app for iOS and Android devices. The update offers several performance and design improvements, along with a few new features.

Nikon SnapBridge for iOS and Android allows users to connect a supported Nikon camera to a compatible smartphone via Bluetooth low energy (BLE) tech. Once paired, users can automatically transfer images and videos from the camera to the connected mobile device. Likewise, the app also enables uploads to cloud storage services for expanded access to content on other components. In addition, select Nikon camera models can be controlled via the mobile app as well, including support for taking shots and a live view feature right on a user's smartphone display complete with focus adjustments via touch.

Here's a full rundown of key updates offered in SnapBridge 2.6 per Nikon:

  • RAW (NEF/NRW) images can be downloaded (Wi-Fi cameras only)
  • Faster automatic image transfers (2 Megapixel versions)
  • DSLR camera control: adjust focus, aperture, shutter speed, white balance and more
  • Faster, easier initial pairing process
  • Power-saving mode for increasing battery life
  • Location information with selectable accuracy
  • Improved design makes the app much easier to use

SnapBridge 2.6 is now available via the Apple app store or Google Play store.
