Sony HDR-AS50 Action Cam Preview

Sony has added a new model to its Action Cam series of video/still cameras. The Sony HDR-AS50 boasts an 11.1 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor mated to a ZEISS® Tessar lens with built-in SteadyShot image stabilization. This setup works well with both hand-held shooting modes as well as mounting the AS50 on moving vehicles and flying drones. When shooting, users can choose between "wide" and "narrow' viewing angles. In terms of videos, it shoots Full HD 1080p video while offering a 4K time-lapse video option (still images during interval recording are captured at an 8MP resolution). In addition to traditional and time-lapse video recording, users can also recording HFR (high frame rate) videos in a 720p resolution at 120p or 100p.

Along with all of these features, the HDR-AS50 also boasts Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity for connecting the AS50 to smartphone and tablet devices; from here it's easy to back up files and/or share them on social media as well as use your smartphone to remotely control the camera.
