Digital Features & Controls

The menu system is called-up by depressing the MENU button at the top left corner of the LCD monitor. Menu's are navigated with the 4-way controller. Menu choices are confirmed by depressing the center button of the 4-way controller.

Record Menu

  • Image size:
      Large - 3872 x 2592 - 10-megapixel
      Medium - 2896 x 1936 - 5-megapixel
      Small - 1920 x 1280 - 2.5-megapixel
  • Quality:
      RAW - uncompressed 10-megapixel only
      RAW & JPEG (Fine) - 10-megapixel only
      Fine - Large, Medium or Small JPEG
      Standard - Large, Medium or Small JPEG
  • Inst.Playback:
      Display captured image for 2, 5 or 10 seconds, or do not display it.
  • Noise reductn:
      Apply dark frame subtraction to exposures of 1 second or longer, reducing image noise
  • Eye Start:
      Enable/disable Eye Start AF function
  • Red eye:
      Red eye reduction by firing several pre-flashes to contract the subject's pupils
  • Flash control:
      ADI flash - Advanced Distance Integration flash metering, uses distance and pre-flash information to determine exposure
      Pre-flashTTL - exposure set with pre-flash only
  • Flash Default:
      Auto - Fires when needed
      Fill flash - Always fires
  • Bracket order:
      Specify the order of bracketed exposures

Custom Menu

  • Priority setup: AF/Shutter Release Priority Setup
      AF - AF priority, shutter does not release until camera focuses
      Release - shutter release priority, shutter releases even if focus has not been achieved
  • FocusHoldButt: Focus Hold Button Setup for lenses so equipped
      Focus hold - pressing focus hold button locks focus
      D.O.F preview - pressing focus hold previews depth of field
  • AEL button: AEL Button Setup
      AE Hold - AEL button must be pressed and held to lock exposure, released to unlock exposure
      AE Toggle - Press and release to AEL button to lock exposure. Press and release again to unlock exposure
      Spot AE Hold - Spot metering area is used; AEL must be pressed and held to lock exposure, released to unlock exposure
      Spot AE Toggle - Spot metering area is used; press and release AEL to lock exposure. Press and release again to unlock exposure
  • Ctrl dial set: Control-Dial Setup
      Shutter speed - Control dial adjusts shutter speed
      Aperture - Control dial adjusts aperture
  • Exp. comp. set: Exposure Compensation Setup
      Ambient&flash - Both ambient and flash exposure controls can be adjusted
      Ambient only - Flash exposure is fixed & only ambient exposure controls adjust the exposure
  • AF illuminator:
      On - Built-in flash fires a few short bursts when raised, or external flash AF illuminator lit to help focus
      Off - AF assistance not active
  • Shutter lock:
      On: no card - Prevents shutter from firing with no CF card inserted
      Off: no card - Allows shutter to fire with no CF card inserted
  • Shutter lock:
      On: no lens - Prevents shutter from opening with no lens attached, avoiding the exposure of the CCD to dust
      Off: no lens - Allows shutter to open with no lens attached; use when attaching camera to a microscope or telescope
  • AF area setup:
      Illuminates the AF point for .3 or .6 seconds following autofocus lock, or turns AF point illumination off
  • Monitor disp.: Monitor Display Setup
      Automatic - Viewfinder eye sensor turns the LCD monitor on and off
      Manual - Display button turns the LCD monitor on and off
  • Rec. display: Recording Display Setup
      Auto rotate - Rotates LCD monitor display to vertical when camera is held in portrait orientation
      Horizontal - Fixes LCD monitor display to horizontal
  • Play. display: Playback Display Setup
      Auto rotate - Rotates image to vertical when a portrait oriented image is selected
      Man. rotate - The user manually rotates portrait images

Setup Menu

  • LCDbrightness: Adjust the LCD backlight intensity
  • Transfer mode: USB - Mass Storage or PTP
  • Video output: NTSC or PAL
  • Audio signals: Camera sounds, on or off
  • Language: Menu language
  • Date/Time set: Set the internal clock
  • File # memory: Auto file numbering, on or off
  • Folder name: Folder naming scheme
  • Select folder: Select active image folder
  • New folder: Create a new image folder
  • LCD backlight: Dim after 5s, 10s, 30s, 1m
  • Power save: Enter power save mode after 1, 3, 5, 10 or 30 mins.
  • MenuSec. Memory: Remember and return to last menu screen
  • Delete conf.: Image deletion confirmation
  • Clean CCD: Mirror lockup
  • Reset default: Return all settings to default
