Sony DSC-HX80 Preview

Sony Electronics has added a new compact zoom camera to its digicam lineup. The DSC-HX80 boasts an 18.2-megapixel Exmor R CMOS image sensor mated to the BIONZ X image processor and a 30x ZEISS Vario-Sonnar optical zoom lens. In other words, you'll be able to shoot fast, far, and in lower lighting conditions. Especially when you consider the built-in pop-up flash.

Other features include a pop-up OLED Tru-Finder EVF (one of only two Sony models with this feature) as well as a standard 3.0" LCD display that tilts 180 degrees. 5-axis image stabilization will get you extra steps of low light still image performance as well as smooth out handheld Full HD videos (which record in the XAVC S format at up to 50Mbps).

Lastly, like most 2016 models, the DSC-HX80 includes built-in Wi-Fi & NFC technologies, which allow users -- using Sony's PlayMemories apps -- to connect their digicams to smartphone platforms for backing up as well as sharing digital files on social media.
