Record Screens & Menus

With all of the sophistication of the a7 and a7R, Sony has still given them the ease and advantages of their intelligent auto shooting mode. This mode takes care of the majority of the shooting settings for you, including selecting the correct scene mode for your current shooting situation. This could be a great tool for unfamiliar or tricky situations, as well as a great learning tool.

Program shooting mode with the a7R gives you control over most of the settings, minus the shutter speed and aperture, allowing you to shoot without changing settings for every shot. The above screen shows a full list of the camera settings, which is an option if you choose not to shoot with the LCD. Pressing the Fn button on the back gives you access to these settings for quick changes.

And of course with a camera of this magnitude, the full manual shooting mode gives you complete control over every aspect of the camera. Whether you choose to shoot with the LCD or the EVF, you see the same info and high resolution view of your images with either. For those who want a little less control, Shutter and Aperture priority modes are also available.

Sony's scene shooting modes are optimized for specific shooting situations, and can assist you in an unfamiliar scenario. The a7R includes: Portrait, Sports Action, Macro, Landscape, Sunset, Night Scene, Handheld Twilight, Night Portrait, Anti-Motion Blur.

When using the LCD as your viewfinder, similar to Live View on a dSLR, you will see this menu when you press the Fn button. Very similar to the info screen above, you will get the same options here without having all of the other information.
