Samsungs ST80 is equipped with a touch-screen LCD that will control most of your cameras functions. The only button on the back that is not on the LCD is the "Play" button that will send the camera into "Play" mode. All other controls on the LCD are shown in the Record and Playback menus. This is a TFT type LCD with 230k pixels of resolution, and a wide viewing angle.

These are the controls on the top of the ST80. There is the power button, shutter release, and you can also see the "Play" button described above. The ports for the microphone and speaker are also located here. The zoom controls are wrapped around the shutter release. In playback mode, these controls toggle the index and magnify options.

On the right hand side of your camera you will see the combination I/O port under a small port door. This miniature connector is for the USB 2.0 (full-speed) data transfer and direct printing with the provided USB cable as well as for Audio/Video output when using the optional AV cable. This port is also used for charging the battery using any powered USB port on a Mac/PC or using the included AC adapter.

The ST80 has a memory card slot that will except microSD or microSDHC cards for storing photos, movies and sound clips. Shown above (left) is a PNY 4GB (class 4) microSDHC that we used with the ST80. To transfer the information on the microSD card, you will need the adapter shown above (right). The micro card slides into the adapter, which will allow it to fit into most card readers. (note: the above card is Not included with the ST80).

The ST80 is powered by a BP70A 3.7V 740mAh Li-ion rechargeable battery pack, which Samsung claims will allow you to capture about 200 photos on a single charge. The battery does not need to be removed for charging. The USB cable is used as the charger cable also, you just plug it into the small AC adapter included. You may also plug it into your PC to recharge, while you are transferring your information from camera to PC. (note: charging from the PC takes about twice as long as using the AC adapter).
