Record Screens & Menus

Note: please excuse the quality of these images, the ST600 camera kit does not include an AV cable, therefore we had to photograph the LCD.

This is the ST600 in the Smart Auto shooting mode. In this mode the camera will select most of the settings and choose the best scene mode for your shot. The only settings that are able to be changed are the flash mode, self-timer, and you can choose the amount of information to be displayed on the LCD. Samsung's Smart Auto mode gives an average user great results for various types of shooting, without having to deal with complicated settings.

Half pressing the shutter release displays the AF mark(s) being used. When in focus the marks will be green and the camera is in focus and ready to snap the image, if not in focus they will turn red. The ST600 displays the Scene setting chosen (Macro), the aperture (F14.1) selected, and also shown is a variety of other icons that display the photos settings: the 14M image quality, OIS is on, the flash is set to Smart Auto, top right you can see the battery level indicator, and that we have room on our microSDHC card for 1702 photos.

Since there is no external mode dial, changing the ST600's shooting mode is accessed on the touchscreen LCD. The top left icon shows what mode the camera is in, and tapping this icon will show the screen capture above. Here you are able to select the appropriate mode for your shooting needs.

Choosing the Scene mode on the above virtual mode dial will display the above screen capture. This option allows you to select from a variety of different scene selections that will best fit the image to be photographed. The Scenes include: Beauty Shot, Frame Guide, Night, Portrait, Landscape, Close-up, Text, Sunset, Dawn, Backlight, Fireworks, and Beach & Snow.

Now we show the ST600 in program mode. In program mode the camera automatically selects both shutter speed and aperture values. However, in this mode the user has access to more advanced camera settings like ISO, White balance, Metering, Focus Area, etc. Using the small shortcut tab at the bottom of the screen will show the shortcut menu. This allows easy access to menu settings that you may want to change quickly.

This is the shortcut menu described above. The available settings depend on what shooting mode you are in.

Here is the ST600 recording a movie. Movies can be shot in 1280x720 HQ, 1280x720 SQ, 640x480, or 320x240 motion video, with audio, at 30 or 15fps.
