the Lumix TS20 features a completely internal lens with 4x optical zoom and the 35mm equivalent of 25-100mm. this lens is made up of 11 elements in 10 groups that fit within and adjust within the body of the camera. it also features Panasonic's Mega O.I.S. image stabilization system. To the left of the lens is an LED light that assists with the cameras focusing and can help light a scene during video recording.

The small built-in flash unit has a range of approx. 14ft. at the wide end of the zoom using ISO auto. It operates in the standard flash modes: Auto, Auto/Red-eye Reduction, Forced On, Slow Sync./Red-eye Reduction, Forced Off.

The top of the TS 20 is very simple with only the power control, shutter release button and video recording button available.

Viewing in framing your images is accomplished with a 2.7-inch 230,000 dot LCD screen. an anti-reflective coating and several levels of brightness make it easy to see the screen in all lighting conditions, including underwater.


Controls on the back: On top you can see the zoom controls allowing you to zoom or enter the index in playback mode. Under the zoom controls are the playback button and mode selection button. The 4-way controller in Record mode toggles the flash mode when pressed 'Right.' When pressed 'Up' it adjusts exposure compensation, 'Left' to activate the Self-timer and press 'Down' to enable Marco focus mode. In Playback mode the 4-way selector is used to select images and in both record and play is used to navigate the menu screens. The MENU/Set button calls up and dismisses the menu system as well as accepts menu selections. The DISPLAY button toggles the amount of overlay information shown on the LCD. The Q.MENU button gives you access to the shortcut menu in record mode, and acts as the image delete option in playback mode.

Within the waterproof flap on the right side of the camera you'll find us the card slot and the camera's one I/O port. The camera will handle all SD/SDHC/SDXC type memory cards. the I/O port handles both USB 2.0 and A/V output for the camera. On the right side you see the orange rubber seal which keeps out sand dust and water keeping the camera safe. The camera's battery is also found within this compartment.

Powering the TS20 is a 3.6 V, 680mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Panasonic claims that this battery can provide enough power to allow the camera to capture up to 250 images on a single charge. Also included is this compact, portable quick charger, that allows you to keep this battery and a spare charged and on hand at all times.
