Panasonic Lumix DMC-S2 Preview

Panasonic has announced the LUMIX DMC-S2, the latest addition to its compact, affordable S-series cameras. It features a 14.1 megapixel CCD image sensor capture light through a 28mm wide angle lens with a 4x optical zoom. Panasonic's digital Intelligent Zoom doubles that capability to 8x. The Venus Engine image processor enables quick "Sonic Speed" Auto Focus as well as Intelligent Auto modes for those who would rather let the camera choose optimal settings. The good news is that you get built-in Optical Image Stabilization, ISO controls, scene selector for different shooting conditions, and face detection.

Other nice features include720p HD video recording, Auto Retouch Mode, which auto corrects brightness and contrast in pictures and helps smooth out faces, and my personal favorite, Panorama Mode. Panorama Mode works both horizontally and vertically; simply snap a group of shots, and the camera assembles the whole, larger image.
