Record Screens & Menus

Shown here is the iAuto record mode screen. All of the icons shown on the screen are selectable touchscreen menus, allowing you quick and easy access to the camera's commonly used settings.

Once you've half-pressed the shutter release, the camera will lock the focus and exposure settings. A green dot indicates successful autofocus, along with the AF target marks turning green as well. The camera will also display the ISO and Aperture settings chosen for the shot (intelligent Auto, F3.2 above.)

Here you can see program mode, which is also automatic but offers access to all of the available menu options, including some more advanced exposure options. Pressing the DISP. button in the lower right hand corner of the LCD will change the amount of overlay information, as you can see in the animation above: Minimal info, Grid lines, Full overlay.

Here we can see all of the available shooting modes: iAuto, SCN (see menu below), Program AE (Auto Everything), Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, and Manual mode. iA takes all of the guesswork out of shooting, as the camera makes all of the selections for you including choosing the correct scene mode for your current shooting situation. This allows you to just point and shoot without worrying. For Very specific situations, you can choose your own scene mode. The last four modes will give you the most control over the camera, depending on your experience or needs.

The camera's Scene mode menu give access to several shooting settings at any time. These include: Portrait, Soft Skin, Transform, Self-Portrait, Scenery, Panorama Assist, Sports, Night Portrait, Night Scenery, Handheld Night Shot, Food, Party, Candle Light, Baby1, Baby2, Pet, Sunset, High sensitivity, Flash Burst, Starry Sky, Fireworks, Beach, Snow, Aerial photo, Pinhole, Film Grain, High Dynamic(Standard, Art, B&W), and Photo Frame.

Here you can see the Shutter Speed Priority AE mode, which allows you to toggle the shutter speed while the camera chooses the appropriate aperture value.

Aperture Priority AE is the exact opposite of the above, and allows you to choose the aperture value while the camera selects the corresponding shutter speed.

Full Manual mode then lets you choose both the shutter speed and aperture values for near complete control over the exposure process. All three of these modes are designed to give advanced users the options they desire, however the typical user won't have much need for these settings with the effective iAuto mode.

Directly on the record screen are the Exposure compensation, Flash, Macro, Self-Timer and Burst mode icons, which are normally found on the 4-way controller. Since these are the most commonly changed settings, they are in the easiest place possible to access at all times.
