Features & Controls (cont.)

Olympus has incorporated a tilting 3.0-inch OLED display on the E-M5, which is also a touch screen. This 3.0-inch display offers 610k dots, and 100% frame coverage. The touch screen system offers Touch Shutter, Touch Enlargement, Touch Live Guide, Touch AF, and much more. You can tilt the display up 80 degrees, or down 50 degrees.

Most of the E-M5's controls are located on the rear of the camera; just to the right of the OELD display. At the very top you can see the Fn1 (Function 1) and Playback buttons. You can also see symbols under the rear control dial which indicate that it controls the index and magnify options in playback; which can also be activated by the touch screen interface. Next we have the Menu and Info buttons, and the 4-way controller. In the center of the Ok button for accepting selections. Lastly we have the delete button and the On/Off lever.

High-quality EVF

The E-M5 is equipped with a built-in EVF; which is one of the distinguishing differences of the OM-D line compared to their Digital PENs. This unit offers an eye-level look at your subject(s), with 100% frame coverage, an 18mm eye point, dioptric adjustment (-4 ~ +2m-1), a removable eyecup, three different "Finder Styles", and ±7 levels of brightness and color temperature adjustment. To the right of the eye piece are two small LEDs.

Secure Digital Storage

The E-M5 is equipped with a Secure Digital (SD) memory card slot and is compatible with any capacity SD, SDHC, or SDXC memory cards. Shown here with a spacious and speedy Sandisk Extreme Pro (UHS-1) 8GB SDHC memory card. The E-M5 is also Eye-Fi compliant.

I/O Interfaces

The I/O ports are located on the left hand side of the E-M5. The top port is a multi-connector port that handles both A/V OUT (user- selectable NTSC or PAL) for output to a TV monitor as well as USB 2.0 (high-speed) connectivity for transferring files to the host computer. The bottom is the Mini HDMI Type C accessory port for full HD output.

Power Source

The E-M5 is supposed to ship with the Olympus BLN-1 Li-ion rechargeable battery pack. Our test sample did not include the battery or charger. Battery life is "TBD" (To Be Determined).

Here you can see the E-M5's optional HLD-6G and 6P grip adapters.
