Nikon DL24-500 Preview

Nikon has a new premium compact camera line for 2016. The DL Series aims to combine the power and optics of Nikon's DSLRs into a camera that's much more hand held. Of the three cameras in this series, the DL24-500 offers the longest zoom and the least compact body. This 21x NIKKOR optical super-zoom lens covers an eye-opening 24mm-500mm equivalence with a fast f/2.8-5.6 maximum aperture range. Dual Detect Optical VR should help shooters capture sharp images at greater distances as well as in lower lighting conditions. Also unique to this series model is the vari-angle OLED display (while the DL24-500 siblings are limited to tilt and touch).

The DL24-500 is perfect for sports, wildlife, or concert photography, made even easier by wireless connectivity via Nikon SnapBridge, which allows users to connect to smartphones for easy social media sharing.

Much like its series siblings, the DL24-500 also features a 20.8-megapixel (CX-format) 1-inch BSI CMOS image sensor, a high-speed hybrid autofocus (AF) system, 20FPS continuous shooting, a high-speed hybrid autofocus (AF) system, RAW image capture, 4K UHD video capability (3840x2160) at 30p, PSAM selectable exposure modes, and a DSLR-inspire menu layout.
