Playback Screens & Menus

Please excuse the poor quality of these screen captures. The Nikon D810 kit does not include an AV output cable, therefore we had to photograph the display screen.

Playback - main GIF.gif

To enter Playback mode with the Nikon D810 just press the Playback button in the upper left corner of the back panel of the camera. Once you're in Playback mode, you'll see the most recently shot photo on the LCD screen.

Across the bottom of the screen you'll see limited data about the currently displayed photo. Press the upward button of the four-way button to add more information to the screen, including a histogram. The image will shrink into the upper left corner of the screen. Press the button again to return to the original view. To remove all data from the screen, press the plus magnifying glass button on the back of the camera.

You can use the Playback menu, as discussed below, to add other data to the screen, such as highlights or an RGB histogram.

Playback - grid GIF.gif
To make use of the D810's thumbnail grids for stored photos, press the minus magnifying glass button on the back of the camera. Grids of 2x2, 3x3, and 9x8 are available. Just highlight the thumbnail image you want to see in full screen and press the OK button.

From the 9x8 grid screen press the minus magnifying glass button again to see a popup menu that allows you to switch to a different memory card slot or to a different folder to see additional stored images.

Playback - magnify GIF.gif
The Nikon D810's magnification option in Playback mode works in a similar manner. With a single image on the screen press the plus magnifying glass button. Eleven levels of magnification are available. Use the four-way button to change the view you have of the magnified image. A popup window will appear in the lower right corner of the screen for about 1 second, showing how the current view relates to the overall image. Use the minus magnifying glass button to reduce the level of magnification.

Playback - movie GIF.gif

With a movie visible on the screen in Playback mode, you can see data about the movie on the bottom of the screen, just as you would with a still image. Press the upward four-way button to see additional data.

To play the movie just press the middle of the four-way button.

To edit the movie press the i button or the OK button in the lower left corner of the back of the camera.

You can open the Playback menu from any shooting mode. Press the Menu button on the back of the camera. Highlight the Playback tab on the left side of the screen (at the top of the list of tabs) to see the full list of Playback menu options.
