Nikon 1 V2 Preview

Taking over for last year's V1, Nikon has announced the new 1-series camera, the Nikon 1 V2, an interchangeable lens camera system with a 14.2 megapixel CX-format CMOS image sensor and the new EXPEED 3A image processing engine. While the V2 retains much of the V1's sleek styling, there's a new top-placed Command Dial for easier adjustments on the fly. Direct Setting Control allows users to adjust setting in P, S A, and M manual exposure modes without looking away from the electronic viewfinder or the 3.0-inch LCD display.

The Nikon 1 V2 not only records Full HD 1080p video, but in Advanced Movie Mode, users can also take high-res stills simultaneously or opt to record slow motion movies at 400 or 1200 frames per second (not at full 1080p). Enhanced Motion Snapshot Mode is a video-esc mode that allows owners to capture a short slow motion movie sequence alongside or instead of a single image, either by selecting to capture a 4 seconde MOV file as well as a JPEG still, or a 10 second MOV file only.

By holding the shutter button down halfway, Best Moment Capture Mode allows you to replay up to 1.33 seconds of live action footage over the couse of 6.66 seconds. By slowing the footage five times slower than normal speed, you can easily select exact shot you want. Perfect for fast-paced sporting events.

Lastly, if you need a little help with your shot selection, Smart Photo Selector will capture up to 20 shots with the single press of the shutter button and then select the five best images to keep.
