Playback Screens & Menus

Pressing the playback button on the back of the camera allows you to see all of the images that are saved on the camera's memory. The amount of information that is shown on the LCD screen can be changed by going into the "Display" settings in the Setup menu.

With no zoom lever, the index mode can be accessed by first pressing the "OK" button to access the index/zoom option. Then turning the command dial to the left takes you to index mode.Here you will see thumbnails of all of the images that are saved on the camera's memory.

Turning the command dial to the right allows you to zoom in on any of the images. This is a great way to check focus or details in your images. Once you have zoomed in, you can use the 4-way controller to scroll around the image.

As with shooting mode, playback mode also has a Fn menu. Here you have access to a few of the more common playback menu settings, including the WiFi and trimming options.

Playback menu options:
  • Delete - Delete files from the memory card
  • Slide Show - Start an automated slide show of images and/or movies stored on the SD card; Image type, Select Scene, Frame Interval, Movie Playback time, Audio
  • Image Review - On or Off
  • Rotate Tall - Automatic image rotation; On or Off
  • WiFi Upload - Choose the images to upload via WiFi when connected
  • DPOF Print Order - Choose the print settings for direct printing via USB
  • Protect - Protect files from deletion
  • Rating - Rate images
  • D-Lighting - Apply D-Lighting to an image to increases brightness and shadow detail
  • Resize - Reduce the dimensions of an image, while keeping the same framing and aspect ratio
  • Crop - Crop out a portion of an image and save it as a new file
  • Face-Priority Zoom - On or Off
  • Edit Movie - Edit the length of a movie file
  • Combine 4-second Movies
  • Combine NMS Movies

The J4 allows you to view all of your images and movies on the camera's LCD screen or on any HDTV with an optional HDMI cable. The camera offers basic movie controls that allow you view your movies at regular speed or frame-by-frame.

Setup Menu Options:
  • Rest Setup Options - restore factory default settings for the setup menu
  • Format Memory Card - Format the SD card (erases everything)
  • Slot Empty Release Lock - Control whether the shutter can be released when a memory card is not present; Locked or unlocked
  • Display - Change the Display Brightness, Grid and info for both shooting and playback modes
  • Silent Photography - On or Off
  • Sound Settings - Choose the camera sounds for the Shutter and Autofocus/Self-timer
  • Auto Power Off - 1min, 5min, 10min
  • Touch Screen Controls - Enable, Disable
  • Shutter Button AE Lock - On or Off
  • HDMI Device Control - Lets you control the camera remotely when using the HDMI-CEC televisions
  • Flicker Reduction - Reduces the banding or flickering that can be present in movies when shooting under fluorescent lighting
  • Reset File Numbering - Reset the file numbering on the memory card
  • Time Zone and Date - Set the Time Zone, Date and Time, Date format, and Daylight Savings mode
  • Language - Choose the camera language
  • Auto Image rotation - On or Off
  • Pixel Mapping - Checks the sensor and processor for bad pixels to increase image quality
  • Firmware Version - View the current firmware version installed on the camera
