Record Screens & Menus

The X-T2 does not feature a standard mode dial like we are used to seeing on most digicams. Dials for the aperture, shutter and ISO leaves the camera in some type of manual control mode at all times. There is the option to set them all to automatic, creating a program mode, but the camera does not have a photo-assisting Automatic shooting mode. Along with the drive mode ring, you will find the creative shooting modes and panorama modes for those special shooting occasions.

Panoramic shooting is incredibly easy if you allow the camera to do all the work. Using the Panorama mode, the camera allows you to press the shutter and sweep the camera in the direction shown on the LCD screen. The camera then shoots a series of images while the camera sweeps and stitches them together for you, providing you with the final image.

The creative shooting modes are preset to give some popular effects without the need for editing later. These settings and the panorama mode above are the closest you will get to a full automatic shooting mode with the X-T2.

On the back of the camera is a "focus joystick" that is dedicated to changing the AF point of the camera. This allows for faster changes while shooting, without having any other buttons or menus to find first.

The X-T2 sports some fantastic video capabilities, allowing you to record Full 1080p at 60fps and 4K video at 30fps, with several other options as well. Via HMDI, the camera will export live video to a monitor as well as showing it on the LCD screen, which is why our screen does not show any shooting information (but can be turned on). The camera must be put into video recording mode, unlike most cameras, it does not have a dedicated video recording button. This means that you have to plan ahead and be ready.
