Bottom Line
The Wi-Fi-enabled X-A1 offers a sweet deal - an APS-C sensor that delivers very high image quality and low noise at very high ISO settings. You also get lots of fine-tuning tweaks in the menus, and various manual controls. But if fast action photography is your bag, you'll be frustrated by the slow contrast-detection auto focus and lack of AF during burst shooting. Read more in our Full Conclusion.
In late summer of 2013, Fujifilm announced the ultra-light X-A1 compact camera system that, in kit form, includes the FUJINON XG16-50mm (24-76mm) F/3.5-5.6 OIS Zoom Lens pictured above. The fourth interchangeable lens digicam in the company's X-Series, the X-A1 body weighs only 11.6oz and is one-third the size of traditional DSLRs.

Despite being the "affordable" and "entry-level" X-Series model, the X-A1 features a 16.3-megapixel CMOS image sensor paired with the super speedy EXR Processor II -- we're talking start-up times of 0.5 seconds, a 0.5 second shutter lag, and high-speed burst shooting at up to 5.6 frames-per-seconds (for a maximum of 30 frames). That's definitely DSLR territory.

Other nice features include the 3.0-inch tilting LCD screen (a high res 920K dots), Full 1080p HD video recording with stereo sound, a built-in intelligent flash and, of course, Wi-Fi capabilities. With a dedicated Wi-Fi button, users can transfer files directly to their PCs or, after downloading the FREE Fujfilm Camera Application (available for iOS and Android), to smartphones and tablets. The app allows you to transfer 30 pictures at a time.

Finally, for those who like to spruce up their photos and movies, Fujifilm has included 5 classic Film Simulation modes (Velvia, ASTIA, PROVIA, Sepia, and Black & White); 8 Advanced Filters (Toy Camera, Miniature, Dynamic Tone, Pop Color, Soft Focus, High Key, Low Key and Partial Color); and a Multiple Exposure Mode which superimposes a second still image onto a first exposure.
