Casio Exilim EX-H20G Preview

Casio's latest H-series compact "Hi-Zoom" camera, the Exilim EX-H20G is a feature packed digicam that boasts some appealing options; most of which it shares with the EX-H15. While 14-megapixels, 720p HD video recording, and a 3.0-inch LCD are pretty standard these days, the H20G's wide 10x optical zoom and Hybrid GPS system are not. Although the camera is just 1.13 inches thick, Casio was still able to pack a nice 10x optical zoom lens inside the H20G's frame, which covers a wide focal range of approx 24-240mm (in 35mm equivalence). This camera also boasts optical image stabilization, thanks to a CCD-shift type mechanism, which will help you capture sharper images when using the H20G's telephoto capabilities.

Casio's Hybrid GPS system will allow you to geotag both photos and video while you're on an adventure, and you can also view an on-screen map to help plan your travel route, view points-of-interest or photo locations. The H20G even offers an onscreen digital compass. Once you return to your PC, you can then upload your geotagged photos to Google Earth, Flickr, iPhoto, etc. Overall, it looks as though Casio has aimed the EX-H20G towards those who lead an adventurous lifestyle. We're looking forward to testing the H20G, so stay tuned as we await our eval unit.
