Playback Screens & Menus

Please excuse the poor quality of these screen captures. The PowerShot SX60 HS kit does not include an AV output cable, therefore we had to photograph the display screen.

The Canon PowerShot SX60 HS's Playback button is just to the right of the viewfinder. When entering Playback mode, the camera will display information about how each image was recorded. Press the Disp button on the back of the camera to change the data that's shown in the display. You have four different display options.

  • No data
  • Limited data, including shutter speed, aperture, EV, and ISO
  • Extensive data, with date and time, a histogram, white balance, focus mode, resolution, and shooting mode added to the limited data
  • Most data removed, but four histograms displayed

You'll use the camera's thumbnail grid option to more easily scroll through multiple stored images at one time. With a single image displayed on the LCD screen, press the zoom ring to the left, and you'll see thumbnail grids, including 2x3, 3x4, 6x6, and 10x10. Highlight an individual thumbnail image and press Func/Set to bring that image to a full screen view.

With a single image displayed on the screen, spin the command dial on the top of the camera near the shutter button. You'll then see the date displayed on the screen. Use the up and down buttons on the four-way button to scroll through the stored images, which will be grouped by the date on which they were shot.

Playback - zoom GIF.gif
Magnification of stored images is possible with the SX60 HS as well. With a single image displayed on the LCD screen, press the zoom switch to the right to magnify the image. The large white box in the lower right corner represents the full image, while the small white rectangle in the white box represents the current view. You can move around within the overall view by using the four-way button. Decrease the magnification level by pressing the zoom switch to the left. Ten levels of magnification are available.

Playback - movie GIF.gif

You can view shooting data about movies, just as you can with still images. Press the Disp button to change the data that's displayed.

Press the Func/Set button twice to play back the movie on the screen. A timeline will appear across the bottom of the screen to show how much time has elapsed in the playback, as well as a set of control icons.

Playback - Wifi GIF.gif

While in Playback mode, press the top portion of the four-way button to open the Wi-Fi connection screen. With the PowerShot SX60 HS's wireless connection options, you can make connections to other cameras, smartphones, tablets, computers, printers, or to the cloud through Wi-Fi or NFC connections. The Wi-Fi connections are easy to set up and use, but sending numerous photos wirelessly to other devices will drain your camera's battery much more quickly than shooting photos and videos alone.

Playback - main menu.jpg

You can view the Playback and Print menus while you're working in Playback mode by pressing the Menu button. The Playback menu tab is on the far left and marked with a play icon. Its options are:
