Bottom Line |
The N100 has a lot to offer, including Wi-Fi, fast autofocus, the innovative Creative Shot mode, and a rear lens that enables the dual capture of a selfie and the scenery - as stills or video. The high-resolution screen and artsy playback features sweeten the deal, as do the elegantly implemented touch screen functions. But if you want lightning-quick burst shooting or a powerful zoom lens, you'll have to look elsewhere. Read more in our Full Conclusion. |
But wait, there's more...
Dual Capture Mode utilizes the included rear-facing "Story Camera" to create a picture-in-picture effect of not only the photograph subject, but also the person taking said photograph. Story Highlights Mode "creates a highlight reel of selected images or movie digest clips" to build a two to five minute movie automatically selected from the movies and/or videos taken at one specific event (hand picked events, dates taken, or even by Face ID).
The N100 also boasts 46 new Filter Effects, including HDR (High Dynamic Range) effects and Creative Shot Mode, which divides the filters into four categories: Retro, Monochrome, Special, and Natural. The other cool thing about Creative Shot Mode is that after you take a photo, this mode "automatically renders five different variations of the shot", to give you options, while retaining the original version.
With "enhanced" Wi-Fi and NFC (Near Field Communication) technologies, the N100 uses the Mobile Device Connect Button to pair with Android or iOS smartphones and tablets. From there, assuming you're running the Canon Camera Window app, it's easy to connect with computers, back up images on the cloud, or use your iOS or Android device as a remote control / remote display.
