Bottom Line
The Canon Powershot G7 X provides nearly every advanced feature that you can find on a digital camera in today's marketplace, including a touch screen LCD that tilts, NFC and Wi-Fi connectivity, and Canon's latest image processor chip that yields good response speeds. With a large image sensor and 20-megapixels of resolution, the G7 X does a great job recording high-quality images too. This model's primary drawbacks are a small optical zoom lens and a high price. But if you're looking for a companion fixed lens camera for your DSLR, the PowerShot G7 X's image quality and performance provides a tempting option. Read more in our Full Conclusion.
In September of 2014, Canon announced the PowerShot G7 X; the first compact PowerShot camera to boast a one-inch High Sensitivity CMOS image sensor. In this case, we're talking about 20.2-megapixels coupled to a DIGIC 6 image processor and a 4.2x optical zoom lens, a 24-100mm equivalent with an f/1.8 to f/2.8 maximum aperture and a convenient ND filter for overly bright shooting conditions.

The High Speed 31-point AutoFocus system helps keep subjects in focus at a maximum 6.5fps as well as Full 1080/60p HD videos, which can also be recorded externally via the HDMI output. If you're into nighttime photography, there are three Star Modes to help any shutterbug capture the infinite vistas of space in individual shots or even time-lapse movies. Creative Shot Modes, Smart AUTO, and HDR Mode offer up easy and new ways to stylize your shots. RAW + JPEG shooting options are the mark of a professional level camera. And, finally, Wi-Fi and NFC capabilities allow the G7 X to connect to a smartphone or tablet where you can share and back up files, or even remotely control the camera itself.
