Record Screens & Menus

Like any other Canon point-n-shoot camera, the PowerShot G15 features Canon's Smart Auto shooting mode, which thanks to the DIGIC 5 image sensor, can detect and select one of 58 scene modes for your current shooting situation. Some of there modes will depend on the flash being up or down, since the camera will not raise it automatically.

Program is another automatic shooting mode. Here the camera will not pick a scene mode for you. You do have some creative control with several of the shooting and exposure controls at your disposal. Shutter speed and Aperture settings are controlled by the camera, everything else is up to you.

Manual, Aperture Priority and Shutter Priority all give you total control over all of the camera's settings, depending on the mode that you use. This full control gives you limitless creative freedom that any level photographer can appreciate. It also allows you to grow your photographic abilities, with options that give you as much control as you can handle at any given time in your journey.

With the HS system, the camera is capable of some very creative and special shooting modes that cannot be captured with a film or standard digital camera: High Dynamic Range, Nostalgic, Fish-eye Effect, Miniature Effect, Toy Camera Effect, Soft Focus, Monochrome, Super Vivid, Poster Effect, Color Accent, Color Swap

Canon has also given you the opportunity to manually choose several scene modes. These are the most popular modes and some of the trickiest shooting situations that the camera might struggle to figure out on its own: Portrait, Smooth Skin, Smart Shutter, High-speed Burst HQ, Handheld NightScene, Underwater, Snow, Fireworks, Stitch Assist.

Acting as a shortcut button for several of the most common shooting settings, the 4-way controller allows you to change the ISO, Flash, Focus Mode and Display information based on the direction that you push. It also allows you to easily and quickly navigate the camera's menu systems.
