Playback Screens & Menus

Pressing the Play button will bring up the last picture captured in full screen mode with minimal overlay information (depending on the menu setting). Pressing the DISPlay button controls the amount of data that will be shown on the LCD. These include the extended picture information screen with histogram, AF-Point zoom preview, and all info cleared.

Press the wide angle zoom control to enter the thumbnail index mode. Here you can quickly search through stored files on the SD card. The G11 can display 4, 9, 36, or 100 thumbnails, based on the amount of times you press the wide control.

You can also search through images by using the Control dial (screen above is from another Canon model). It will show the screen above, with the date and time of capture. Once you stop on an image, it will display full screen.

Pressing the telephoto zoom control will enter the zoomed playback also know as magnify. Here you can magnify an image up to 10x in several steps, and then scroll around inside using the 4-way controller. This is a very useful tool when wanting to quickly check an image for focus, etc.
