Playback Screens & Menus

Please excuse the poor quality of these screen captures. The PowerShot ELPH 190 IS kit does not include an AV output cable, therefore we had to photograph the display screen.

To open Playback mode with the PowerShot 190 IS, press the Playback button on the back of the camera. You'll then be able to see your photos stored on the camera's memory card.

With a single image displayed on the screen, press the Info button (bottom of the four-way button) to change the data shown on the screen. Three screen display options are available:

  • No data
  • Limited data, including date and time the image was shot, image resolution, and file name
  • Detailed data, including a histogram, shooting mode, shutter speed, ISO, and aperture

To delete the image on the screen while in Playback mode, press the upward portion of the four-way button.

You also can access a popup menu in Playback mode when you press the Func/Set button with a single image displayed on the screen. It'll give you quick access to commonly used functions, including:

  • Rotate
  • Protect
  • Favorites
  • Image Search - Cancel, Shot Date, Favorites, Still Image/Movie
  • Slideshow - Off, Fade, Slide

You can see a thumbnail grid of images in Playback mode by pressing the zoom ring to the left. Each time you press it to the left, more thumbnails will appear. The thumbnail grid options are 3x2, 4x3, 6x6, and 10x10. When one of the thumbnails is highlighted, press the Func/Set button to bring the image to the full screen.

You'll also have a magnify function in Playback mode. With a single image displayed on the screen, pressing the zoom ring to the right will magnify the photo. Ten levels of magnification are available.

A white outlined box will appear in the lower right corner of the screen as you press the zoom ring to the right. This box represents the full image, while the smaller white box inside represents the current view. Pressing the four-way button will slide the current view to the left, right, upward, or downward.

When a movie is displayed on the screen in Playback mode, you can press the Info button to change the data shown on the screen, just as you did with a still image. The data display options are the same as with a still image too.

If you choose to play a movie on the Canon ELPH 190's LCD screen, press the Func/Set button twice. You can pause the movie by pressing Func/Set again, which also will open a set of buttons across the bottom of the screen, including:

  • Exit
  • Play
  • Slow Motion
  • Skip Backward
  • Previous Frame
  • Next Frame
  • Skip Forward

The PowerShot ELPH 190 IS includes both Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity. You can access the Wi-Fi settings through the Wi-Fi button on the back of the camera, allowing you to connect with your home Wi-Fi network and the connected devices.

To connect with an NFC-enabled device just touch the N-Mark on the left side of the camera to the N-Mark of the other device.

Press the Menu button while in Playback mode to see the menu options. Across the top of the screen are three tabs, representing a Playback menu, Print menu, and the Setup menu (which we discussed on the previous page). Highlight a tab to see the available commands. The menu options under the Playback tab are:

  • Slideshow - Repeat (On, Off), Play Time (3-30 seconds), Effect (Off, Fade, Slide)
  • Erase - Select, Select Range, Select All Images
  • Protect - Select, Select Range, Protect All Images, Unprotect All Images
  • Rotate
  • Favorites
  • Photobook Set-Up - Select, Select All Images, Clear All Selections
  • i-Contrast
  • Red-Eye Correction
  • Resize - M2, S
  • Transition - Fade, Slide, Off
  • Auto Rotate - On, Off
  • Resume - Last Seen, Last Shot

The Print menu options are:

  • Print
  • Select Images & Qty
  • Select Range
  • Select All Images
  • Clear All Selections
  • Print Settings - Print Type (Standard, Index, Both), Date (On, Off), File No. (On, Off), Clear DPOF Data (On, Off)
