Record Screens & Menus

Please excuse the poor quality of these screen captures. The PowerShot ELPH 115 IS kit does not include an AV output cable, therefore we had to photograph the LCD.

As with most PowerShot cameras, the LCD screen in the shooting modes offers only the most basic data. In Auto mode you'll see the battery charge, resolution setting, shots remaining on the memory card, video resolution, video storage space remaining, image stabilization setting, and the Auto mode icon. Just below the Auto mode icon is the flash setting.

If you press the Disp button on the back of the camera, you can remove all of the data from the screen, other than the Auto mode icon and the image stabilization mode icon. If you press Disp again, the original view will return.

Program mode has a similar set of icons across the top of the screen to what you'll find with Auto mode. The ELPH 115 displays the ISO setting in the lower right corner of the screen. Press the Disp button to remove all icons from the screen, including the shooting mode icon in the upper right corner.

Use the four-way button to open a few of the shortcut menus, including for the flash and the EV setting. Some of these shortcut menus are only available in Program mode. With almost every menu setting on the ELPH 115 IS, you're going to see a brief explanation of the feature on the LCD screen, which is helpful for beginners.

You can record a movie from any shooting mode with this camera. Just press the movie record button on the back of the ELPH 115. When a movie is recording, you'll see a red Rec icon in the upper right corner and the amount of time the recording has been occurring across the top of the screen. You're limited to a maximum 720p HD movie recording mode with the PowerShot ELPH 115.
