  • Solid built feels sturdy
  • Excellent image quality
  • Intelligent IS is very helpful when shooting on the move or in low-light
  • Nice, Bright 3.0-inch LCD
  • Excellent shooting performance
  • Competitively priced for a "life proof"camera
  • Using the GPS shortens the battery life considerably
  • Battery Life is less than 300 images, not very much for an adventurous trip

  • Placement of the Playback button is odd, and caused confusion when shooting
Bottom Line
The Canon PowerShot D20 is a great new lifeproof addition to a line that Canon has not updated for several years. The body has been made more manageable and the electronics include the great components of their proven HS system for outstanding quality. Read more in our Full Conclusion.
After three years, Canon has finally released their second Lifeproof camera; the PowerShot D20. The D20 replaces the popular PowerShot D10 from 2009, with some much needed and anticipated upgrades. First off, the D20 sports a new stylish exterior; which kind of looks like a shark to us. The D20 has all of the features you'd expect from a 2012 PowerShot camera, like their HS system, full 1080p HD video recording, their newly enhanced Smart Auto mode (detects up to 58 scenes), a 12-megapixel CMOS image sensor, DIGIC 4 processor, a 3.0-inch LCD screen, and a 5x optical zoom lens.

On top of the standard digicam features, the D20 boasts some impressive specifications that will appeal to those who are on the go. The D20 is waterproof down to 33 feet, dustproof, shockproof from a 5 foot fall, and freezeproof down to 14 degrees Fahrenheit. On top of all this, the D20 sports built-in GPS functionality for Geo-tagging and location tracking. All of these combined allow you to take the D20 just about anywhere.
