Kodak C533 Review

Features & Controls
![]() The Easyshare C533 is equipped with a high quality 3x aspheric all-glass Kodak Retinar optical zoom lens with a 37--111 mm f/2.7--4.8 (35mm film equivalent) focal length coverage. The lens retracts into the camera when powered down and is protected by a built in lens shutter. Auto focus is handled by a contrast detect TTL system with multi-zone and center zone options and single AF or continuous AF modes. The focus range is:
macro, wide: 0.3-2.3 ft (0.10-0.7 m) macro, tele: 0.7-2.3 ft (0.20-0.7 m) landscape: 32.8 ft (10 m)-infinity
The eyelevel optical viewfinder zooms in and out with the lens and shows about
82% of the captured image. There is
no diopter adjustment.

The built-in speedlight has a shooting range of approx.
2.0-11.5 ft (0.6-3.5 m) at wide and
2.0-6.6 ft (0.6-2.0 m) at tele, ISO 140 and
can be set for Auto Flash, Red-Eye Reduction, Fill Flash or
Disabled.

The indoor/outdoor 1.8-inch wide view color LCD can be used as a live viewfinder and for
viewing your images and movies and accessing the menu screens.

On top are the Drive Mode and Flash Mode buttons and the combination shutter release and
Mode Dial with positions for selecting Favorites, Power Off, Auto, Landscape, Closeup,
Scene or Movie mode.

On the back is the Share button, the zoom lens controls, in playback they function as
the zoom-in and zoom-out controls for inspecting the magnified image. The Delete button,
the Monitor button turns the LCD on/off and controls the amount of data that is
displayed over the image. The 4-way selector is for navigating menus and selecting
pictures. The OK button accepts menu selections. The Menu button calls up and
dismisses the menu system. The Review button enables the playback mode.

The interface connector is a combination port to connect the USB cable for downloading
images to Mac and Windows computers or to a PictBridge enabled photo printer. The
Audio-Video Out cable for viewing on a TV set is also connected here. The video signal
is selectable for NTSC or PAL. On the other side of the camera is a DC IN jack for
an optional AC power supply.

The C533 has ~32MB of internal memory and a SD memory card slot, no card is
supplied with the camera. Images, movies and sound recordings can be copied from
internal memory to SD card or vice-versa. We recommend the purchase of at least a 256MB
SD card (or 1GB if doing a lot of movies).
Approx. Still Image Capacity![]() ![]() ![]() The C533 is powered by two AA type batteries; alkaline, NiMH or lithium. Or you can use one of the CR-V3 type lithium batteries. We recommend the use of rechargeable NiMH AA type for economy, power and the environment. However, if you use your camera infrequently or in cold temperatures, the CR-V3 type is the best choice.
It can also be powered by the optional KODAK Ni-MH Rechargeable Battery KAA2HR
that is bundled with the KODAK EASYSHARE Camera and Printer Docks.
![]() The C533 is also available as a bundle with the Kodak Printer Dock Series 3 which functions as a recharging cradle and for downloading images to your computer via its USB port. And it's a 4 x 6-inch dye sub photo printer. Simply place your camera on the Printer Dock, select the photo you want to print on the camera's color LCD and then press the Print button! That's all there is to it - anybody can make photo-quality prints that look and last as long as conventional film camera jumbo prints. See our Printer Dock mini-review for more information. |
