Here's an animated view of the RDC-7's SETUP mode screens.

  • Format - Internal or Memory Card
  • Serial Transfer - If using the serial port instead of USB.
  • Keep Settings - Off, On (Save the settings for flash, white balance, focus, exposure compensation, flash strength, date imprint, ISO sensitivity, soft mode, language and Card/In)
  • LCD Confirmation - 0,1,2,3,4,5 secs
  • Auto Power Off - Off,1,3,5 mins
  • Beep Sound - Off, On
  • Power Save Mode - Off, On
  • Sequential No. - Off, On (when On the filenames will be incremented even after the memory card is changed)
  • Date Setting - set the time and date
  • Video Out Mode - NTSC or PAL
  • Language - English, French, German or Japanese
  • Initialize Setting - Return all settings to default

This is a typical live record screen showing the usual on-screen information. The microphone icon indicates that it will also be recording a sound notation after capturing the still image.

The RDC-7 can be used as an all-purpose sound recorder saving the audio notes as standard WAV audio files. The amount of recording time is limited only by the size of your memory card.

The screen displays from the various record modes:

  • Still photo capture
  • Continuous capture
  • Movie capture
  • Text capture
  • Macro closeup mode.
Still image with sound and just sound record are also available.

Pressing the MENU button in Record mode brings up the Shooting Menu.

Options are:

  • Image with sound - On, Off
  • Focus - AF or MF
  • Flash Strength - Normal, Strong, Soft
  • Redeye Reduction - On, Off
  • ISO Sensitivity - Auto, 200, 400
  • Date Imprint - Off, Date or Date/Time
  • Soft Mode - On, Off (smooths contours)
  • Monochrome Mode - Off, B&W, Sepia
  • Interval Mode - Off, (see next frame)
  • Auto Bracket - Off, On (3 frames, -0.5, 0.0, +0.5EV)
  • No Compression - Off, On (TIFF mode)
  • Pro - Off, Pro, Pro-L, Pro-H
    • Pro (interpolates to) 3072 x 2304
    • Pro-L pixel-shifted 2048 x 1536
    • Pro-H pixel-shifted 3072 x 2304
  • Time Exposure - Off, 1, 2, 4, 8 seconds

    Ricoh RDC-7

    The RDC-7's Interval Recording function lets you set an automatic interval between shots for 30 secs to 3 hours in 30 second steps. The user manual states that auto power off is activated 24 hours after the start of Interval mode even when powered by the optional AC adapter.
