High-Resolution & Versatility Are Highlights Of Mustek MDC832Z 8.0 Megapixel Digital Camera

-- MDC832Z is New Flagship of Mustek Digital Camera Line-up, Features 3264 x 2448 Resolution, High-Quality Video & Voice Capture, Elegant Aluminum Casing, MSRP of .99 --

ORLANDO, FL, February 26, 2006 (Photo Marketing Association Show) – Mustek, a leader in digital lifestyle electronics, continues to raise the bar for digital camera price-to-performance with its launch today of the MDC832Z, an 8.0 megapixel CCD camera boasting a high-grade 3X optical zoom AF lens, super-fast USB 2.0 downloading, a bright 2-inch LCD, 32MB internal memory, and an accessible interface that delivers convenience to both experienced and new "digicam" enthusiasts.

Sleek and stylish in its durable aluminum casing, the MDC832Z is the ideal take-along digital camera for families, travelers and business professionals. It is expected to ship in March with an MSRP of .99 (U.S.).

"Our MDC832Z brings together all the performance and value that savvy consumers expect in digital cameras today," says Bill Nguyen, Director of Marketing, Mustek. "Its ramped-up feature set makes it perfect for consumers upgrading from lower-resolution cameras, as well as newcomers who want to begin with a state-of-the-art camera."

In addition to photography, the MDC832Z works as a digital camcorder or web camera capable of 30 frame-per-second, VGA-resolution video.

A Small Camera That Thinks Big

At the heart of the MDC832Z is its impressive 8.0 megapixel CCD image sensor. Combined with the all-glass, 3X optical zoom AF lens (F=2.8-4.8; f=7.5mm – 22.5mm) the CCD captures TIFF and JPEG images with stunning clarity in resolutions up to 3264 x 2448 pixels for printouts up to 11" x 17" size. This huge performance is all the more amazing considering that the palm-sized MDC832Z measures a mere 3.6" x 2.4" x 1.1" and weighs just 0.3 lbs.

Full Range of Auto & Manual Controls

As simple to use as a traditional "point-and-shoot" film camera, the MDC832Z is equipped with a range of automatic controls that significantly flatten the learning curve for novices, such as super-fast autofocus, auto exposure, auto white balance, and auto flash (0.5m to 2.5m), along with a handy "scene mode" that instantly adjusts the camera to the optimal setting for portraits, sports, night-time and landscapes to assure perfect pictures in challenging conditions.

For the more sophisticated shooter there is a rich array of manual controls that encourage the creative vision. These include manual white balance (daylight, cloudy, tungsten, fluorescent), black & white and polarized digital effects, exposure control in 1/3 steps from –2 to +2 EV, and manual control of the flash (red-eye reduction, forced, suppressed). In addition, the photographer can choose from various resolution settings (fine, normal. economy) to meet their quality and memory requirements.

Rounding out the MDC832Z’s feature set is a crystal-clear 2.0 inch TFT-LCD (882 x 228 pixels) perfect for sharing photos with family and friends, a self-timer that puts the photographer in the picture, and a lightning-fast USB 2.0 interface for downloading photos and video to a Windows® or Macintosh® computer. Built into the camera is 32MB of internal flash memory along with a slot to fit SD™ cards up to 1GB.

The Mustek MDC832Z package comes with Photo Express 5.0 and Photo Explorer 8.0 software to edit and manage photography, along with USB cable, camera strap, camera carrying bag, two AA batteries, AV cable and manual.
