Kodak DX4900 EasyShare

ORLANDO, Fla., February 23 - Eastman Kodak Company announces the availability of the Kodak EasyShare DX4900 Zoom Digital Camera, the first print-optimized 4.0 Megapixel (MP) digital camera, designed to be one-touch simple. The Kodak EasyShare DX4900 is part of the Kodak EasyShare system, the recognized industry standard for ease-of-use, that allows consumers to transfer, print and e-mail pictures with one-touch simplicity. The latest addition to the EasyShare portfolio, the DX4900 has a suggested retail price of and will be available in March.

It's All About the Print

The new EasyShare DX4900 has been developed by Kodak to make it easy to get quality prints from a digital camera, overcoming one of the major frustrations consumers have in entering digital photography. With the DX4900, consumers can produce posters with the sharpness and clarity of smaller prints.

"The EasyShare DX4900 has been designed with our latest technology, geared at image and print quality, to offer consumers the easiest way to get high quality prints in virtually any size, while still providing flexibility for consumers to be creative with their photography," said Willy Shih, president of Kodak's Digital and Applied Imaging division. "Our customers don't want complicated steps to get great pictures, so we've utilized high technology to solve their real problems, while making the DX4900 truly easy to use."

The EasyShare DX4900 enables consumers to make sharper, larger prints - from 4" x 6" up to 20" x 30" poster size - because it combines true 4.0 MP resolution with Kodak's high quality all-glass aspherical lenses and Kodak color science technology for the best image quality. Kodak has also added enhanced 6X Zoom, a combination of the 2X optical zoom with Kodak's new 3X Advanced Digital Zoom technology that together deliver outstanding edge sharpness and brightness. The EasyShare DX4900 lets users choose between an automatic mode for point-and-shoot ease and a host of creative modes for more control.

The Kodak EasyShare system includes the Kodak Picture Software that allows customers to print high quality pictures at home on their inkjet printers. The software's One Touch to Better Pictures feature color-matches the image and changes the printer driver settings to ensure the best prints possible on Kodak Premium and Ultima Picture Paper - all at the touch of one button. In addition to printing at home, the software offers users an easy path to obtain prints via the Internet.

Kodak Image Technology Meets Ease of Use

The EasyShare DX4900 uses Kodak color science technology, comprising of a new set of patented imaging algorithms, which deliver image quality that rivals traditional photography. This technology includes advanced white balance and exposure processing that ensures pictures taken in virtually any situation are of outstanding quality, resulting in no orange or green casts from improper lighting, and virtually no poorly exposed pictures. Kodak's color science technology relies on more than 120 years of Kodak's ongoing research and development to produce vibrant, rich, consistent colors with true flesh tone reproduction, sharpness and contrast.

The DX4900's Advanced Digital Zoom is a Kodak patented technology, which employs a unique one-step interpolation and edge-sharpening algorithm to deliver sharper, higher quality prints up to 5"x 7, even at full digital zoom.

Creative Control

The feature-rich EasyShare DX4900 also offers a host of creative controls for consumers looking for more flexibility or the opportunity to experiment. The camera includes: three sharpness modes - normal, sharp for landscapes and soft for portraits; color, sepia and black and white color modes; manual focus for landscapes or close-ups; burst mode for high speed sequence shooting; 10 manual exposure time settings including long shutter speeds for night time photography; and three metering modes for different lighting conditions.

Shoot. Touch. Share.

Because it is part of the Kodak EasyShare system, the EasyShare DX4900 is compatible with the Kodak EasyShare camera dock, making it simple to move pictures from the camera to a computer by automatically uploading images with the press of a button. The Kodak camera dock quickly recharges the camera's battery during picture transfer, keeping the camera always ready for use.
