Winners Announced For First Ever Student 3D Film Fest

Student-3D Film-Fest.jpgAs 3D starts to take off with major motion pictures, so too does it gain popularity with independent studios and even with students. The new tech was the subject of a recent film festival sponsored by - you guessed it - Panasonic.

The competition started in January and offered the top filmmakers of Campus MovieFest the opportunity to try their hands at 3D. Panasonic provided them with 3D camcorders, 3D televisions and training that would allow them to shoot and edit their films.

The winner of the competition is a film called 'Portrait of the Storm: Tuscaloosa, AL.' It documents a tornado that hit Tuscaloosa while filmmaker Xavier Burgin was attempting to shoot his originally planned movie. Burgin earned a $5,000 scholarship for his win.
