Venus Optics Launches Laowa 9mm f/2.8 Zero-D Lens for Micro Four Thirds Mount

Venus Optics has announced a Micro Four Thirds version of its Laowa 9mm f/2.8 Zero-D Lens. Pre-orders are now available via B&H Photo-Video for an MSRP of $499.

The Laowa 9mm f/2.8 Zero-D is an ultra wide-angle prime lens with support for up to a 100-degree angle of view on with the MFT system. The unit's optical design features 15 elements in 10 groups with 2 aspherical elements plus 3 extra-low dispersion elements to correct chromatic aberration and greatly reduce distortion, making it an ideal fit for accurate landscape and architectural photography.

In addition, the device uses a Frog Eye Coating to repel dust and water, along with an integrated petal-shaped lens hood to minimize flare and ghosting in bright environments. Finally, the lens incorporates a 7 bladed aperture and offers a minimum focusing distance of 4.7".
