Use Shadows to Add some Flavor to your Photos

It's been said that the secret to getting a great photo is getting the lighting right. If the sun's in the right spot and your lights are positioned correctly, you'll have a much easier time getting the shot you want. That's not to say that shadows can't be used for effect too.

The folks over at Petapixel demonstrated an excellent example of this in a photo taken by a Flickr user known as CWYNDLE - real name Justin Swindle.

In the photo, four people hold up pieces of cardboard with letters cut out to create a fantastic silhouette effect. Justin simply drew the letters on the cardboard and then traced over them with a razor to cut them out.

It's a relatively quick and simple process, but using shadow in interesting ways can greatly enhance your photos.
