Two New Camera Reviews Posted

Amongst the busyness of CES 2010, we still managed to finish up a couple of camera reviews.

First, we posted our Casio Eilim EX-FC150 review late last week. This compact model is one robust digicam, offering some blazing fast shooting performance (40fps @ 9-megapixels to be exact), along with 10-megapixels of resolution, a nice 2.7-inch LCD screen, a 5x optical zoom lens, and 720p HD video recording. Be sure to check out this model if you are looking for a nice pocket-rocket.

Next, we have Panasonic's latest EVIL model. No, this camera is not a member of the Decepticons, but rather an Electronic Viewfinder Interchangeable Lens camera. Since these Micro 4/3 models feature a mirror-less setup, we can't really call them dSLRs, even though they offer almost all the same functionality. So, some bright individual came up with the EVIL acronym.

The Lumix DMC-GF1 is the most compact Lumix G-series unit to date, offering many of the features we liked on the DMC-GH1. These include a 12-megapixel Live MOS image sensor, Venus Engine HD processor, Supersonic Wave Filter Dust Reduction system, Micro 4/3 lens mount, iAuto exposure mode, 23-zone contrast AF system, HD video capture, and a high resolution 3.0-inch LCD. While offering a reduced size and weight, the GF1 lacks the 1080p video mode from the GH1 (still offers 720p), an EVF, and the LCD is now fixed, instead of the rotating/tilting monitor found on the GH1.
