When a stylist and a photographer come together to a form a single artistic entity really cool things can happen. Such is the case with photographer Henry Hargreaves and stylist Caitlin Levin. Both artists work together as art directors on their projects both for themselves and for their clients as HARGREAVES + LEVIN

They recently did an entire series of gingerbread house versions of famous art galleries for Dylan's Candy Bar.

Their FOOD MAPS project was inspired by their passion for travel. To quote their website for the genesis of this project:

"These maps are a playful representation of our interpretation of food from around the world, painstakingly created with real unadulterated food.  This project speaks to the universality of how food unites people, brings us together and starts conversation -  just as we hope these beautiful maps will do too."

For their latest art project called THE FALLOUT OF THE FOOD SYSTEM, however, they chose to make atom bomb mushroom clouds out of actual mushrooms.

Here's a behind the scenes video of them making these incredible pieces:

The work is very poignant and timely. The world is closer than it's ever been to a true nuclear war and the ramifications of a war like that on our food supply would be devastating.

What I love about these is the care they took in lighting them. It's not just an art piece of a mushroom cloud, somehow each photo carries the devastation and the beauty of such an event. Even though they're made out of mushrooms, you know exactly what an event like that would mean.
