Twitter Taps Photobucket for Photo Sharing Service

Twitter-pics.jpg When we first heard about Twitter's plan to integrate a photo sharing service into their social media site, a few names came to mind. Twitpic seemed a likely partner, as did the incredibly popular Yfrog. Twitter surprised us all today by announcing that their new partner is going to be Photobucket.

The main drive towards Photobucket, according to the Guardian newspaper, is the sheer scale of the service. With 100 million users and more than 8 billion uploads, Photobucket is a giant. It's also an incredibly stable service.

When the new feature launches, you'll simply click a picture icon when you post on Twitter, upload the picture and post. Nice and easy. Twitter will also be adding a better search, better access for traditional phones instead of just smartphones and new hashtag functionality.
