Toshiba Shows Off World's Fastest SD Cards

Hot on the heels of the Panasonic announcement, Toshiba showed off some SD cards of its own.  Like Panasonic's cards, these use the new specification.  Unlike Panasonic's cards, they're currently the world's fastest.

You're looking at a read speed of up to 95 megabytes per second and a potential write speed of 80.  At 80 megabytes per second, you're looking at a rate of five gigabytes a minute.  That's absolutely freakishly fast.

The new cards from Toshiba come in 8, 16 and 32GB capacities, while their MicroSD companions will be available in 4, 8, and 16.  You'll see them all start to show up in November, except the 8GB and 16GB SDHC cards, which will be coming in December.
