Tessera Licenses FotoNation FaceTracker Technology to Casio

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Tessera Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:TSRA), a provider of transformational technologies that enable innovation in next-generation electronics, today announced it has licensed its FotoNation FaceTracker solution to Casio Computer Co., Ltd.

This innovative technology, which provides in-camera face detection and tracking for digital still cameras, camera phones and other imaging devices, will enable Casio to offer automated, enhanced image quality in its EXILIM digital cameras.

“By including the FotoNation FaceTracker solution in Casio’s high-quality EXILIM digital cameras, we will provide an easy and non-failure operation to consumers,” said Susumu Takashima, managing director, Digital Camera Engineering Department, Casio. “Our EXILIM line will continue to build on the latest advancements in image technology from Tessera.”

The FotoNation FaceTracker solution detects and tracks faces in the camera monitor screen. It can detect up to 10 faces in one image in as little as 0.1 seconds, and continue to track them moving throughout the image, even in rotation or profile. The camera uses “face data” to adjust image capture settings such as exposure and focus, which results in human subjects that are well-lit and well-focused, even when backlit or off-center.

The FotoNation FaceTracker technology is currently available for licensing from Tessera. For more information, please go to www.tessera.com.
