Tamron Unveils Three New Camera Lenses

Tamron has detailed the latest additions to its lineup of lenses for full-frame DSLR and full-frame mirrorless digital cameras.

The 35-150mm F/2.8-4 Di VC OSD (Model A043) is a compact zoom lens for Canon EF and Nikon F mount DSLRs (or for their full-frame mirrorles systems using an adapter). It incorporates the 85mm focal length in its range for portrait photography. In addition, the unit features LD (Low Dispersion) glass elements and aspherical lenses to reduce optical aberrations. Likewise, the device uses a Dual MPU (Micro-Processing Unit) system to optimize AF performance and provide vibration compensation. Finally, the lens offers an MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 17.7 in across the entire zoom range.

Meanwhile, the SP 35mm F/1.4 Di USD (Model F045) is a fixed focal lens designed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Tamron's SP series and showcase the company's latest tech and manufacturing achievements. This prime will be available in both Canon EF or Nikon F mount, and is geared toward a wide assortment of photography applications, including landscape, photojournalism, sports, street life, weddings, and family picture taking -- providing a fast F/1.4 aperture, pleasing bokeh quality, and high-speed, high-precision AF performance.

Lastly, the 17-28mm F/2.8 Di III RXD (Model A046) is a lightweight and compact high-speed ultra-wide-angle zoom lens designed for Sony E-mount cameras. The unit features a small diameter for its type, offering a 67mm filter size. In addition, the device provides support for a fast constant F/2.8 aperture and Minimum Object Distance of 7.5 in at the wide-angle end. And for those interested in videography, the A046 uses an RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive) stepping motor unit to power its AF system, providing quiet performance during recording.

Pricing has not been announced yet, but Tamron's new lenses are set to launch in the middle of 2019. In addition, the lineup will be displayed at the CP+ 2019 show on February 28 through March 3 at Pacifico Yokohama, and at the Wedding and Portrait Professionals International (WPPI) on February 27 through March 3 in Las Vegas.
