Tamron Unveils 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VXD Lens for Sony E-Mount

Tamron has detailed its newest Sony E-Mount camera lens, the 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VXD (Model A056). Pricing has not been revealed yet, but the lens is set to launch in Spring 2020.

Helping to further Tamron's goal of "making high-speed zoom lenses user-friendly," the 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VXD offers a lightweight and compact form factor. In addition, the unit's optical construction features multiple specialized glass elements and the device is rated for an MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 33.5 in. Meanwhile, the lens also makes use of Tamron's new VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism for fast and quiet AF performance. Likewise, the A056 is capable of supporting camera-specific features like Fast Hybrid AF and Eye AF. Finally, a Moisture-Resistant Construction and a Fluorine Coating have been employed as well.
