Tamron Details Three New Prime Lenses for Sony E-Mount Cameras

Tamron has revealed three new prime lens models for Sony E-Mount cameras. The lineup includes the 20mm F/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 (Model F050), the 24mm F/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 (Model F051), and the 35mm F/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 (Model F053). All three models are set to retail for $349. The 24mm and 35mm lenses will launch on November 20, while the 20mm model will start shipping in January 2020.

The new prime lens models have been designed to help further Tamron's goal of "letting as many as possible learn the joy of prime lenses in a more accessible way." The 20mm F050 offers an ultra-wide-angle perspective, while the 24mm F051 offers a general-purpose wide-angle solution, and the 35mm F053 offers a focal length geared more toward everyday/every subject photography.

All three lenses are rated for a magnification ratio of 1:2 for close focusing support. In addition, a Moisture-Resistant Construction and a Fluorine Coating have been employed across the collection for superior outdoor use and easier cleaning. The lineup also incorporates an AF drive system with OSD for quiet performance, along with support for features like Fast Hybrid AF and Eye AF when paired with Sony cameras that offer such capabilities.

Meanwhile, when it comes to optical construction, all three lenses include LD (Low Dispersion) and GM (glass-molded aspherical) lens elements to help reduce aberrations. Likewise, the lenses also feature Tamron's BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) Coating to minimize ghosting and flare. Finally, all of the models include 7 aperture blades.
