To plan the perfect shot, you use a slider at the bottom of the app to adjust the time of day and the app updates the screen with the current angle / elevation of the sun at that time.  There are also two other line indicators on the screen that illustrate sunrise and sunset.  To get more in-depth information, click the information icon (i) to get the exact times of sunrise / sunset, twilight dawn / dusk, moon rise / set, moon phases and the length of the day.

In the main map, you can switch between Google's satellite and regular map view.  You can also save time / GPS locations of your particular picture in case you want to revisit that spot in the same lighting.  Furthermore, you can change the date in the app to plan a shoot days, weeks or even months in advance for planned events like weddings or the big game.  The app even allows you to email locations to your photog friends by using the export function, as well as import locations from your contact list.  The app also works in both vertical and landscape view.
