Sony Wins CES Award and Honored By Time for Alpha A55 Camera

How about that for a double whammy? Sony is not only the recipient of an Innovations award from the Consumer Electronics Association for the Alpha A55, but on Time's list of "The 50 Best Inventions of 2010" for the very same camera.

Sony cites the new Translucent Mirror Technology as the reason for the victories, since it provides incredible auto focus speeds for both movies and still pictures. Capturing focused photos at 10 frames per second is nothing to scoff at, and grabbing video of your friends without all that out-of-focus blur as they move in and out of frame is amazing.

That's not it for Sony either. The company also took home CES Innovations awards for their Google TV equipped HDTV and Blu-ray player.
