Sony Unveils New Ultra-Compact Cyber-Shot Cameras

Sony has just unveiled three new Cyber-Shot models,
the DSC-TX9,
DSC-WX5, and DSC-T99. The WX5 and TX9 are the world's smallest 3D capable camera, featuring Sony's new 3D Sweep Panorama technology along with powerful 12-megapixel Exmor R CMOS images sensors and wide optical zoom lenses (5x and 4x, respectively). 3D Sweep captures several images in a burst sequence as you sweep your hand vertically or horizontally, and then stitches them together in-camera. The final product can be viewed in 2D or in 3D when viewing on 3D enabled HDTV sets (with 3D glasses of course).

Another interesting feature on these models is Sony's new Sweep Multi Angle mode, which gives you a moving simulated 3D picture right on your camera by capturing 15 images at different angles. By tiling the camera back and forth during playback, you get a 3D like effect right on the camera's LCD screen.
The TX9 will be available in two colors (dark grey and pink) for $399 US, while the WX5 will be offered in black or silver for $299 US.

Alongside these Exmor R models, Sony also announced an affordable T-series model,
the Cyber-Shot DSC-T99. This unit offers a 14-megapixel CCD image sensor, 4x Carl Zeiss optical zoom lens, optical SteadyShot, 720p MPEG-4 video recording, a large 3.0-inch touch panel LCD, intelligent Auto mode, intelligent scene recognition, and much more stuffed inside a petite frame.
The DSC-T99 is offered in five colors (black, pink, purple, green, and black) with a MSRP of $249 US.
