Sony Unveils New EVIL Alpha Models

sony_nex_600.jpgEarly this morning Sony launched two new Alpha models, the NEX-5 and NEX-3. These are the production versions of the concept cameras we saw at PMA 2010, which Sony is calling their Next Generation Alpha cameras. Designed to be in direct competition with Olympus and Panasonic Micro Four-Thirds models, the NEX units feature Sony's all new E-mount interchangeable lens system, along with 14-megapixel Exmor APS-C CMOS image sensors, tilting 3.0-inch LCDs and much more.

Both the NEX-5 and NEX-3 share almost the same internal makeup, with only one variation; the NEX-5 boasts 1080i AVCHD video recording on top of the 720p (MP4) mode found on the NEX-3. The exteriors also differ, with the NEX-3 offering a more consumer based body that is available in three colors; Red, Silver and Black.

These models are scheduled to hit dealer shelves sometime in early July, 2010. For more details, be sure to check out our Preview pages for each model.
