Sony Unveils a New Alpha Series External Flash Unit with Quick Shift Bounce Technology and More

The folks over at Sony have announced a new lineup of accessories for their Alpha series cameras that include a new Quick Shift Bounce flash unit.

The new HVL-F43AM flash uses what Sony calls their, "Quick Shift Bounce system". This allows for the flash head position to be switched quickly when you're going from shooting horizontally to vertically and vice-versa.

Flash power can be adjusted from 1/1 to 1/128 and you're looking at an approximate recycling time of 2.9 seconds. The flash features an LCD screen and simple direction buttons that allow you to adjust the settings without too much complication.

In addition to the new flash, Sony will be releasing a new mounting bracket made to allow space for microphones and LCD monitors, a carrying case for A-mount cameras and a lens hood for DT 35mm F1.8 SAM and 85mm F2.8 SAM lenses.

All of Sony's new accessories are set for availability this summer. The flash will cost approx. $350 US, the lens hood will run about $20 and both the mounting bracket and carrying case come in at $50.
