Sony Previews Flagship Cyber-shot RX10 IV & RX0 Action Cam

Earlier this week, Sony announced the latest flagship model in its Cyber-shot RX10 series -- the RX10 IV. To help mark the unveiling, the company held a special press event at its New York City headquarters, giving eager journalists a chance to get up close and personal with the new lightning-quick camera. Likewise, the presentation also highlighted the RX10's newest ultra-compact sibling -- the upcoming RX0.

After some remarks from Sony's Neal Manowitz, Tsutomu Hamaguchi, and Mark Weir detailing the new devices' specs and features, along with insights into the company's growing place within the digital camera market, attendees were escorted into a separate demo room where we were allowed to go hands-on with both cameras.

While the small press room wasn't exactly an ideal setting to test out the cameras' unique features, the demonstration still offered a solid preview of what photographers and digital imaging enthusiasts can expect from Sony's latest efforts.

Here's a rundown of key specs  for the RX10 IV, per Sony:

  • ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T24-600 mm F2.4-4 large-aperture high-resolution speed zoom lens

In addition to the new RX10 IV, Sony also demoed its ridiculously compact RX0 camera. Aimed at squeezing premium capture features usually reserved for much larger RX units into a super-tiny action cam body, this miniature model really is quite striking.

  • 1.0-type (13.2mm x 8.8mm) Exmor RS CMOS sensor, aspect ratio 3:2
