Sony NEX-VG10 and LA-EA1 Firmware Updates Allow the Use of Autofocus with Certain A-mount Lenses

sony_NEX-VG10_800.jpgSure, you've been able to use Sony and Minolta A-mount lenses with the NEX-VG10 thanks to the LA-EA1 lens mount adapter, but they were missing one very important ability; they couldn't actually autofocus.

Sony has remedied this with the latest firmware update to the popular camcorder, and more importantly the LA-EA1 lens mount adapter. The update enables autofocus with Alpha/Minolta A-mount SLR lenses that are equipped with SSR (SuperSonic) or SAM (Smooth Autofocus) motors.

With the LA-EA1 adapter update, this means you can now also use the autofocus function of these A-mount lenses with your NEX-5 and NEX-3 digital cameras.

You can find the firmware update for both Mac and Windows based computers at Sony Support.
