Basically, this new system combines both optical and sensor-shift IS system types, with "an advanced form of image stabilization where internally, the camera's lens and sensor are joined and moved together to compensate for camera shake caused by excessive motion, whether shooting handheld with optional accessories or during a fast-paced sporting activity:"

Like its sibling, the AS300 offers built-in GPS and Wi-Fi functionalities, an updated version of Sony's built-in Highlight Movie Maker, and "a unique Time-lapse Capture feature that shoots still images in pre-set intervals that can later be transformed into a stunning 4K time-lapse movie utilizing the Action Cam Movie Creator software. This new unit is about 30% smaller than the previous model, all the while still giving you control over your Action Cam, including start/stop of video recording, acting as remote viewfinder, power on/off control, etc. This remote comes bundled with the "R" versions of the new AS300 and X3000 Action cameras.
