Sony Details CFexpress Type B Memory Card with up to 1700MB/s Read & 1480MB/s Write Speeds

Sony has announced its latest memory card model. The upcoming CFexpress Type B memory card (CEB-G128) is geared toward professional and industrial use, offering fast read and write speeds and tough durability.

The CFexpress Type B memory card features a design spec based on the CompactFlash Association's new PCIe®3 Gen3 standard. The device provides a write speed of up to 1480MB/s and a read speed of up to 1700MB/s, making it a great fit for secure industry data-recording, hi-resolution image capture, and high-bitrate video shooting. In addition, cards offer enhanced durability with support for withstanding 70N of force in bend, along with temperature proof, X-ray proof, anti-static, and UV guard capabilities. Cards will initially be available with a 128GB capacity, but 256GB and 512GB models are also in the works.

And beyond the CEB-G128 card itself, Sony will also release a new MRW-G1 CFexpress Card Reader with support for CFexpress Type B memory cards and their high-speed performance, along with Sony XQD card G series and M series capabilities.

Exact pricing has not been announced yet, but the CEB-G128 CFexpress Type B memory card and MRW-G1 CFexpress Card Reader are both set to launch this summer.
